Japan Industrial Production Rises 1.1% In December

Industrial output in Japan added a seasonally adjusted 1.1 percent in December compared to the previous month, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said on Friday.

That missed forecasts for an increase of 1.3 percent following the 0.1 percent contraction in November.

On a yearly basis, industrial production climbed 7.3 percent - matching forecasts and up from 4.8 percent in the previous month.

For the fourth quarter, industrial production was up 1.9 percent on quarter.

Upon the release of the data, the METI maintained its assessment of out, saying: industrial production continues to show an upward movement.
