Jamey Johnson Offers Free Download

Jamey Johnson has offered up a free download of his newest track "Alabama Pines" to fans. The special treat comes in celebration of Jamey's newly launched record label Big Gassed Records, and Jamey explained the inspiration for the new track in a post to his website.

"It was January 1, 2000, and I had just moved to Nashville," he began.

"Two pickup trucks of old, second-hand furniture, two Japanese Akitas I had recently busted out of the Montgomery humane shelter, and my best friend Luke Garner and I were loading into my new place — a duplex in the Hermitage. My New Year's resolution was already fulfilled. Everything that had happened after that was bonus. 'Alabama Pines' is my love letter to the time and place from whence I came."

He also opened up about starting his own label, saying, "What I'm looking to do is supply my music to my fans. That way we don't have to keep 'em waiting four years for another four years. We don't have to figure out where we can slide in in the line. We just do it."
