Common and John Legend took home the Golden Globe for Best Original Song on Sunday night.

"I am the unarmed black kid who maybe needed a hand but was instead given a bullet," Common said during his acceptance speech in reference to recent events in Ferguson, Missouri. "I am the two fallen police officers murdered in the line of duty."

Their cut, "Glory," from the Selma OST beat out Lana Del Rey's "Big Eyes" from the film of the same name, and Lorde's "Yellow Flicker Beat" from the Hunger Games OST.

It's the first Golden Globe for Com, who already has two Grammys: one for his 2003 collab "Love of My Life" with Erykah Badu, and another for his 2008 hook-up with Kanye West, "Southside." It's also the first Globe for Legend, who has nine Grammys to his name.
