Madonna Insists Tidal Set Out To Create Something 'Unique And Amazing'

Madonna, co-owner of the pay streaming service Tidal along with Jay Z, says that, despite the slow start, she has faith in the project. She excoriated those who don't pay for music and expressed confidence that the model would prove viable.

She adds that the backers are currently working out the "kinks" and plan on "building something unique."

However, to add to its troubles, Cash Money CEO Birdman is suing Tidal after its exclusive release of Lil Wayne's FWA album.

Cash Money called the move "a desperate and illegal attempt to save their struggling streaming service," while Tidal reps counter that Cash Money no longer has exclusivity rights to Weezy's music.

Other celebs backing Tidal include Kanye West, Arcade Fire, Chris Martin and Daft Punk.
