Marvin Gaye III, son of Marvin Gaye, will not sue the hit FOX drama Empire for allegedly stealing his show idea. Gaye's lawyer told Rolling Stone that "My client has not filed a lawsuit regarding the Empire series."

TMZ initially reported that Gaye planned on filing the lawsuit.

TMZ also wrote that Gaye III filed a treatment for a show called Diamonds & Ballads with the Writers Guild of America in 2010.

The script centers on the story of a black family in the music industry.

Gaye III successfully sued Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke for $7.4 million over their song "Blurred Lines."

"Right now, Marvin's interests and our efforts remain focused on the 'Blurred Lines' case and on seeing that through to its conclusion," Gaye's lawyer told Rolling Stone. "We will address the TMZ report and the Empire matter at the appropriate time."
