Kendrick Lamar has opened up about how the crowds at the recent Reading and Leeds festivals compare to audiences in his hometown of Compton, California. During his hotly anticipated headlining set Kendrick said the audiences were more similar than one might guess.

"One thing I Love about being out here, it kinda reminds me of Compton," Lamar said after performing "I" during his headlining set at Reading. "As I look here it's some of the most live, live, live individuals."

According to NME, fans lined up at other stages across the festival grounds and sprinted for closest access to the stage.

He kicked off his set with the introduction "I go by the name of Kendrick f*****g Lamar . . ." later adding "I see a lot of people who've been around with me since day one."
