Alice Cooper and Joe Perry are mourning the loss of 'The Rock and Roll Chef' Kerry Simon, who passed away at the age of 60 due to rare neurodegenerative disease multiple system atrophy.

"He was just comfortable to be with and I think that's something that rockers look for," Cooper tells Billboard.

"He just had this natural vibe to him. He seemed more like a guy that would have somehow been involved in music a lot heavier than he was, but I think that's what appealed to everybody."

In addition to making numerous television appearances, Simon was the executive chef and proprietor at his namesake restaurant "Simon" at Palms Place in Las Vegas. His other restaurants included Simon LA, in Los Angeles, California, Simon Prime in Atlantic City, New Jersey, along with KGB and Carson's Kitchen in Las Vegas.

"There's a reason they called him the 'Rock & Roll Chef'," Perry adds. "Somebody like that, you feel like you've known him for a while, or you've met him before, and that's the common thing with that rock & roll spirit - and he definitely had that through and through. I felt like I'd known him before."
