Donald Trump becoming the US President will be dangerous to the country's economy, according to his presidential rival Hillary Clinton.

A few weeks after saying that Trump's foreign policy proposals and reckless statements represent a danger to America's national security, Clinton said "Just like he shouldn't have his finger on the button, he shouldn't have his hands on our economy."

Delivering her first general election economic speech in Columbus, Ohio, Tuesday, the former Secretary of State cited that Liberals and Conservatives say Trump's ideas would be disastrous. "The Chamber of Commerce and labor unions. Mitt Romney and Elizabeth Warren. Economists on the right and the left and the center all agree: Trump would throw us back into recession."

Clinton also pointed out what one of John McCain's former economic advisers calculated if Trump gets elected. She said the people who had the hardest time getting back on their feet after the 2008 crisis would be hit the hardest.

Clinton warned that Trump would rig the economy for Wall Street again, and said she would guarantee that she would veto any effort to weaken the reforms of the Obama administration. "I would defend them and strengthen them?—?both for the big banks and the shadow banking system. And I will vigorously enforce the law. Because we can't ever let Wall Street wreck Main Street again."

Clinton also slammed Trump's approach to the US national debt, and his tax plan.
