Coinbase Offers Storage Support For Dogecoin On Its Wallet

Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase is offering storage support for the virtual currency Dogecoin (DOGE) directly in the Coinbase Wallet app.

The San Francisco-based exchange currently supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum Classic, XRP and over 100,000 different ERC20 tokens and ERC721 collectibles built on Ethereum.

Coinbase had added Stellar Lumens (XLM) to its retail platforms last month.

The new Wallet update with Dogecoin support will be made available to all users on iOS and Android over the next week.

Dogecoin wallet can be activated by tapping 'receive' on the main wallet tab and selecting Dogecoin. Wallet also supports the Dogecoin Testnet to aid developers and power users.

The users' private keys are encrypted on their phone using Secure Enclave technology, to ensue security.

The Coinbase Wallet app is Coinbase's user-controlled cryptocurrency wallet. Coinbase provides its users the facility to store crypto currencies they buy on Coinbase Wallet.

The addition of Dogecoin to Coinbase Wallet had a positive impact on its price. DOGE price increased by more than 2 percent after the announcement.

Coinbase is one of the best-known and largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world, having more than 20 million users spread over 42 countries.

In response to increasing requests it receive from customers, the company plans to trade more crypto assets on its platform when they meet the exchanges standards.
