Akorn, Bioniche Pharma sign 5-yr manufacturing supply deal for injectable products - Update

Akorn, Inc. (AKRX), a specialty pharmaceuticals maker, said it struck a five-year deal with Bioniche Pharma for the manufacturing and supply of two hospital injectable products. Financial terms were undisclosed.

As per the deal, Akorn will be responsible for the manufacturing and supply of the two pharmaceutical products, which are expected to be launched in the second half of 2008.

Arthur Przybyl, Akorn's president and chief executive officer stated, "We continue to seek contract pharmaceutical manufacturing opportunities in hospital injectables, ophthalmics and lyophilized products in order to expand this business."

AKRX is currently trading at $3.23, up $0.01 or 0.31%, on a volume of 8K shares.
