Super Micro Computer Q2 profit declines

Super Micro Computer, Inc. (SMCI) reported its second quarter net income of $5.35 million or $0.14 per share, compared to $7.74 million or $0.20 per share in the same period last year.

Non-GAAP net income for the quarter was $6.73 million or $0.17 per share, down from $8.56 million or $0.22 per share in the previous year period.

On average, analysts polled by First Call/Thomson Financial expected the company to report earnings of $0.14 per share for the quarter.

Net sales for the quarter declined 6.1% to $128.57 million from $136.93 million in the corresponding period last year. Two Wall Street analysts estimated revenues of $136.0 million for the quarter.

Super Micro anticipates third quarter non-GAAP earnings in the range of about $0.11 to $0.14 per share. The company expects net sales to decrease 9% to 16% for the quarter. Analysts expect the company to earn $0.12 per share on revenue of $132.50 million for the third quarter.
