After a long and lucrative box office run, "Slumdog Millionaire" will hit the small screen this week with its release on high definition Blu-Ray and DVD. Also reaching video stores around the country will be family release "Marley and Me" and Will Smith drama "Seven Pounds."

Though "Slumdog Millionaire" originally struggled to receive theatrical distribution, it would go on to be among the biggest 2008 releases and became an international phenomenon. Not only did the $15 million production go on to make $139 million domestically and $292 million worldwide, it also won a slew of prestigious awards, including Best Director and Best Picture at the Academy Awards.

While other highly acclaimed films like "Milk" and "Frost/Nixon" failed to catch on with audiences, "Slumdog Millionaire" also gained a reputation as a crowd pleaser as it landed in the top 10 every weekend from the middle of January to the second weekend in March. All things considered, "Slumdog" should maintain its momentum as it moves to home video, where it should also post impressive numbers.

Also expected to have a great deal of appeal will be the family hit "Marley and Me," which stars Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston. Based on the popular book of the same title, "Marley" went on to earn $142 million domestically and $215 million worldwide in theaters, making it one of the biggest family hits released in 2008.

Heading into release "Seven Pounds," star Will Smith had one of the most impressive box office streaks in history. Smith's previous eight releases had each crossed $135 million in domestic receipts alone, with his previous two ("Hancock" and "I Am Legend") crossing $200 million. However, drama "Seven Pounds" failed to reach the $100 million benchmark, which Smith has reached 12 times during his illustrious career.

With a mixed critical consensus, "Seven Pounds" struggled to compete with the other awards bait December dramas like "Gran Torino" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." But even as "Seven Pounds" didn't reach the figures typical of a Will Smith release, the $55 million production was still profitable overall as it went on to pull in $167 million worldwide.

Alongside the newer releases, a few popular 1950s musicals will also make their way to Blu-Ray this week. "South Pacific," "Gigi" and "An American in Paris" - all award-winning and tremendously popular musicals - will be rejuvenated by the high definition of Blu-Ray and will likely have a great deal of appeal for aficionados of old Hollywood.
