National Semiconductor Q2 Profit Rises; Guides Q3 Revenues - Quick Facts

National Semiconductor Corp. (NSM) posted second quarter net income of $47.0 million or $0.20 per share, compared to $36.3 million or $0.16 per share in the prior year period.

On average, 21 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.14 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Sales for the period were $345 million, compared to $422 million in last year quarter. Nineteen Wall Street analysts expected revenues of $336.69 million.

Looking forward, for the third quarter, the company expects revenues to be roughly flat.

Further, the company declared a cash dividend of $0.08 per share of common stock, payable on January 11, 2010 to shareholders of record at the close of business on December 21, 2009.
