Trapeze Networks (BDC), a provider of enterprise wireless LAN equipment and management software, said Monday that the U.S. Patent Office has awarded two more wireless networking patents to the company. The patents were awarded on June 23.
The company said that the patents advance its position in wireless network security and role-based access control.
According to Trapeze, one of the awarded patents is "methods and apparatus for controlling wireless network access privileges based on wireless client location." This is a quintessential patent that coverts client accesses controls enforcements based on client location.
The company also said that the second patent covers client roaming between VLANs based on credentials on a database stored in a switch or somewhere else. This is a technology built into the company's SmartPass software.
SmartPass is a software product that gives IT managers full control over client access to the wireless LAN. Network managers can fine tune access and authorization on the wireless LAN, both for primary users and guests on the network, Trapeze noted.
BDC is trading at $18.93, up $0.56, on a volume of 62,033 shares.
