Bunzl Names Philip Rogerson Chairman - Update

Distribution and outsourcing Group Bunzl plc (BNZL.L) said Friday that it appointed Philip Rogerson as Chairman. Rogerson succeeds the retiring Interim Chairman Jeff Harris, who had assumed the role after Anthony Habgood retired in July this year.

Bunzl stated that Rogerson will join the Board as Chairman designate on January 1, 2010 and will become Chairman with effect from March 1, 2010. In order to take up his appointment, he will retire from his present positions as Chairman of Northgate plc (NTG.L) on December 31, 2009 and non-executive director of Davis Service Group plc (DVSVF.PK) on February 28. However, he will remain as Chairman of Aggreko plc (AGK.L, ARGKF.PK) and Carillion plc (CLLN.L, CIOIF.PK).

Further, the company said Harris, who has been a non-executive director since August 2000, will retire from the Board on February 28.

Commenting on the appointment, Rogerson said, "I am delighted to be joining Bunzl. It has an excellent reputation and has built leading positions in a number of business sectors in which it competes. I am very much looking forward to taking up my new role and working with Jeff, Mike and the rest of the Board over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition."

In a separate announcement, Northgate plc, a specialist in light commercial vehicle hire in the UK and Spain, also said Rogerson is retiring as Chairman of the company's Board. Rogerson joined Northgate's Board in November 2003 and was appointed as Chairman in June 2007. The company said that it has begun the process of searching for a successor.

BNZL.L is trading at 637.50 pence on the LSE, up 2 pence, on a volume of 50,422 shares.
