Pepco Holdings, Inc. (POM) reported consolidated net income for the third quarter of $124 million or $0.56 per share, compared to $119 million or $0.59 per share in the year-ago quarter.
Excluding special items, non-GAAP net income for the third quarter of 2009 would have been $97 million or $0.44 per share. There were no special items in the third quarter of 2008.
On average, analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.43 per share for the quarter. Analysts estimates typically exclude special items.
Total operating revenues for the quarter decreased to $2.54 billion from $3.06 billion in the prior-year quarter.
