Tekelec Q3 Profit Tops Estimates; Lifts FY09 Adj. EPS View - Quick Facts

Tekelec (TKLC) reported that its third-quarter net income was $9.40 million or $0.14 per share, compared to $12.37 million or $0.19 per share in the same quarter last year.

On a GAAP basis, the Company reported income from continuing operations for the third quarter of 2009 of $9.4 million or $0.14 per share, compared to $8.6 million or $0.13 per share, for the third quarter of 2008.

On a non-GAAP basis, net income from continuing operations for the third quarter was $18.2 million or $0.27 per share, compared to $12.5 million, or $0.19 per share, for the third quarter of 2008. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.21 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenue from continuing operations for the third quarter was $114.9 million, up 8% from $106.0 million for the third quarter of 2008. Five analysts had consensus revenue estimate of $108.12 million for the quarter.

For the full year 2009, the company still expects revenues to be in the range of $450 million - $460 million. The company now expect full year non-GAAP EPS to range between $0.95 and $1.00 and GAAP EPS to range between $0.61 to $0.66. The company now believe that its order entry will range between $390 million and $420 million. Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $0.94 per share on revenues of $457.34 million for fiscal 2009.

Previously, the company anticipated non-GAAP earnings to be in the range of $0.90 to $0.95 per share, GAAP earnings to be between $0.63 and $0.68 per share, and estimated order entry to be between $420 million and $460 million.
