Spirit AeroSystems Holdings Inc. (SPR) reported third-quarter net income of $87 million or $0.62 per share, up from $74 million or $0.53 per share in the same period of 2008.
Spirit's third quarter 2009 revenues increased 3% to $1.054 billion from $1.027 billion in the same period last year.
On average, 15 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report $0.55 per share on revenue of $1.12 billion for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Looking ahead, earnings per share for 2009 are still expected between $1.45 and $1.55 per share after the increase in interest expense and fees associated with the recently issued senior unsecured notes. The company lowered its fiscal 2009 revenues outlook to $4.1 billion - $4.2 billion from prior range of $4.2 billion - $4.3 billion. Wall Street analysts currently estimate earnings of $1.51 per share on revenue of $4.20 billion.
