Aurobindo Pharma said that it received final approval from US FDA for Lamotrigine tablets (chewable, dispersible) of 5 mg and 25 mg strengths.
Lamotrigine tablets of 5 mg and 25 mg is generic equivalent to Lamictal CD tablets of 5 mg and 25 mg tablets of GlaxoSmithKline.
Lamotrigine tablets fall under the CNS segment and is indicated as adjunctive therapy for partial seizures and generalized seizures of Lennox-Gastaut syndrome in patients aged 2 years and older and for monotherapy in adults with partial seizures who are receiving treatment with a single enzyme-including anti-epileptic drug. The product is to be launched soon.
