Sun Microsystems Inc. (JAVA) reported a net loss of $120 million or $0.16 per share for the first quarter, compared to a loss of $1.7 billion or $2.24 per share in the prior year quarter.
On a non-GAAP basis, net income was $15 million or $0.02 per share, compared to a loss of $62 million or $0.08 per share in the year-ago quarter.
Total net revenues for the quarter declined 25% to $2.24 billion from $2.99 billion in the previous year quarter.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a loss of $0.23 per share on revenue of $2.34 billion for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
