Keeping up the pressure on the Pakistani government, Islamic suicide-bombers struck yet again Monday killing more than three persons and injuring five others in the capital Peshawar of the North West Frontier Province (NWFP).
The incident occurred at a checkpoint at Pathang intersection on the well-known Ring Road around Peshawar when a suicide-bomber on a rickshaw blew himself up after he was stopped for a check, a police official said Monday. A constable, a passerby and the rickshaw driver were killed, he said.
Police said five other persons were wounded in the blast that no one has yet claimed responsibility.
Monday's attack came a day after a suicide-bomber attacked a crowded cattle market in Matani district near Peshawar, killing 13 persons, including the Matani mayor, and injuring more than 30 others.
The Taliban has unleashed a violent campaign of attacks in Pakistan in recent weeks in retaliation for a major offensive by security forces in the Taliban stronghold of South Waziristan bordering Afghanistan.
