Sempra Energy (SRE) reported that earnings increased in the third quarter to $317 million, or $1.27 per share, from $308 million, or $1.24 per share, in the third quarter 2008. The company said that the prior year results were adjusted for the retrospective adoption of ASC 810 (SFAS 160).
On average, 10 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $1.19 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Total revenues declined to $1.85 billion from $2.7 billion in the prior year quarter. Three analysts estimated revenues of $2.16 billion.
