BNSF Railway Co., a unit of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. (BNI), provided statement regarding the lawsuit filed by the State of Montana over BNSF's 1984 settlement agreement regarding Central Montana Railway, a unit of the State of Montana.
The company said that many of the issues in the lawsuit were resolved in its favor by the federal court and arbitration panels.
The company said it intends to continue these efforts to demonstrate that its actions are legal, designed to provide Montana producers with rate transparency and protect Montana producers from excessive rail rates.
