The U.S. Secret Service has started a probe into an unprecedented security breach at the high-profile 'black tie' state dinner when a Virginia couple entered the White House uninvited and had a "wonderful time" in the company of President Barack Obama, the first lady and the visiting Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
However, Obama and Singh were never in any danger because the uninvited guests went through the same security screening as the 300-plus high profile guests.
The Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan said the agency is conducting a comprehensive review of how Michaele and Tareq Salahi, a couple of aspiring reality-TV stars from Northern Virginia, managed to slip into Tuesday night's state dinner penetrating layers of security even though they were not on the guest list.
The security breach was first reported by "The Washington Post" that an uninvited northern Virginia couple had crashed the White House party but were never seated at a table in the South Lawn tent where the dinner was held.
Photos from the dinner posted on Michaele Salahi's Facebook page shows the couple with a smiling Vice President Joe Biden. The couple also appear alone or together with White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, Washington Mayor Adrian Fenty, CBS News anchor Katie Couric, Rep. Ed Royce, R-Calif., and three Marines in their dress blues.
