South Korean electronic devices maker LG Electronics Inc. (LGERF.PK) Tuesday reportedly said that it will introduce a new line of portable DVD players and cell phones with high-definition, digital TV capabilities aiming at the U.S. mobile TV market. The new products are set to be first showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas from January 7 to January 10.

As per reports, the new products, which include a portable DVD player and three mobile phone models, will allow users to watch digital TV programs in a vehicle moving as fast as 290 kilometers per hour.

LG, currently the world's second-largest TV maker, reportedly stated that it plans to release the mobile DVD player in the first half of next year and commercialize the new cell phone device as soon as possible. LG also plans to introduce borderless flat-panel and three-dimensional TVs to the global market. The company has recently completed the development of a second-generation chip with improved efficiency and performance, reports noted.

"These products will let LG lead the United States mobile TV market through advanced technology and product differentiation," reports quoted Baek Woo-hyun, Chief Technical Officer of LG, as saying.

LGERF.PK ended at $0.445 on February 6.
