AECOM Technology Corp. (ACM) said that a joint venture which it leads was awarded a US$18-million contract by the New Jersey Transit board for the Portal Bridge Capacity Enhancement project. Also, the company noted that the authorization covers the construction management consultant services for early action elements of a planned 7.5-year assignment, valued at about US$94 million overall.
Further, Aecom Tech announced that the 2 new two-track and three-track fixed bridges would replace the existing structure, on the busiest section of passenger rail mainline in North America.
Early construction is projected to begin during late spring 2010 and the replacement bridges are slated for completion in 2017.
