Thursday, Stein Mart Inc. (SMRT) said its comparable store sales for the month of December declined 2.0% compared with the year-ago period. Total sales for the month decreased 4.4% to $170.2 million from $178.0 million in the prior year period.
Quarter-to-date comparable store sales fell 4.1% from the earlier period. Total sales for the period were down 6.3% to $278.0 million from $296.8 million in the comparable period.
Year-to-date comparable store sales declined 5.8% from the earlier period. Total sales for the period decreased 8.3% to $1.15 billion from $1.25 billion a year ago.
