SkyWest Combined December Traffic Up 5.4% - Update

Monday, SkyWest, Inc. (SKYW), the holding company of St. George, Utah-based SkyWest Airlines and Atlanta, Georgia-based Atlantic Southeast Airlines, Inc, reported a rise in combined traffic for December, compared to the same month last year. However, load factor declined 0.8 percentage points to 77.4% from 78.2% in the previous year.

The company said the combined traffic for December increased to 1.42 billion revenue passenger miles or RPM from 1.347 billion RPM in the same period last year. Capacity grew 6.5% to 1.835 billion Available Seat Miles or ASM from 1.722 billion ASM in the corresponding period last year. Passenger boardings totaled about 2.82 million, up 6.9% from 2.63 million in December 2008.

For 2009, combined traffic increased 2% to 17.45 billion RPM from 17.10 billion RPM a year earlier. Capacity edged up 0.6% to 22.14 billion ASM from 22.02 billion ASM in the previous year. Load factor increased 1.1 points to 78.8% from 77.7% in 2008. Passenger boarded grew 3.2% to 34.54 million from 33.46 million in the previous year.

SKYW closed Friday's regular trading at $16.50.
