Tuesday, Sonic Solutions (SNIC) and Cineplex Entertainment (CGX_UN.TO) announced an agreement to provide consumers easy access to premium movies on a range of connected devices throughout Canada. As part of the collaboration, Cineplex has licensed the Roxio CinemaNow entertainment platform to power a new movie streaming and download service at www.cineplex.com scheduled to launch in 2010.
"Roxio CinemaNow offers a turnkey solution that will enable Cineplex customers to access thousands of movies including Hollywood's best blockbusters instantly from the comfort of their living room, extending their in-theatre experience at home. Cineplex is already the number one choice for out-of-home movie entertainment. Now with the CinemaNow-powered digital entertainment services, we want to become their choice for an evening of entertainment at home," said Susan Mandryk, Senior Vice President, Customer Strategies at Cineplex Entertainment.
