NewAlliance Bancshares Inc.(NAL) announced that its fourth-quarter net income was $12.1 million, an increase of 25.7% from $9.6 million for the fourth quarter of 2008. Earnings per share were $0.12 compared to $0.10 per share for the prior year fourth quarter. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.12 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Net interest income was $53.5 million, an increase of 12.0% over $47.8 million for the same period a year ago. Non-interest income for the fourth quarter of 2009 was $13.2 million, up 7.6% from $12.3 million in the fourth quarter of 2008.
The Company also announced that its Board voted to pay a quarterly dividend of $0.07 per share on February 18, 2010 to shareholders of record on February 8, 2010. This will be the Company's 23rd consecutive quarterly dividend paid.
