Lam Research Corp. (LRCX) reported second quarter GAAP net income of $69.6 million or $0.54 per share, compared to a loss of $24.2 million or $0.19 per share in last year period. Ongoing earnings for the period were $60.7 million or $0.47 per share.
On average, 15 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.40 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
The company said its ongoing results for the December 2009 quarter exclude certain costs for restructuring activities, the reversal of accrued liabilities due to final settlement of the remaining liabilities for Internal Revenue Code Section 409A related expenses, and the impairment of an investment.
Revenue for the recent quarter totaled $487.2 million, compared to $283.4 million in the same quarter last year. Eleven Wall Street analysts expected revenues of $453.59 million.
