Tuesday, STERIS Corp. (STE) said its third-quarter net income increased to $41.0 million or $0.69 per share from $28.6 million or $0.48 per share in the prior year period.
Excluding both the restructuring charge and the adjustment for benefit changes, net of tax, fiscal 2009 third quarter net income was $31.3 million, or $0.53 per share. On average, 6 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.48 per share for the quarter.
Revenues for the quarter rose to $327.83 million from $319.46 million in the comparable period. Four analysts estimated revenues of $309.68 million for the quarter.
Also, STERIS said its Board of Directors have authorized a regular quarterly dividend in the amount of $0.11 per common share, payable on March 23, 2010 to shareholders of record at the close of business on February 23, 2010.
