Tuesday, Biogen Idec Inc. (BIIB) said its fourth-quarter net income attributable to Biogen Idec Inc. increased to $305.63 million or $1.06 per share from $206.65 million or $0.70 per share in the prior year period.
Non-GAAP net income attributable to Biogen Idec, Inc. grew to $345.2 million or $1.20 per share from $274.3 million or $0.93 per share in the year-ago period. On average, 20 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $1.05 per share for the quarter.
Total revenues for the quarter rose to $1.12 billion from $1.06 billion in the comparable period. Eighteen analysts estimated revenues of $1.13 billion for the quarter.
For fiscal 2010, the company's GAAP earnings per share are expected to be above $3.71 and non-GAAP earnings per share are projected to be above $4.55. Revenue growth in 2010 is anticipated to be in the mid single digits. Twenty analysts estimate earnings of $4.37 per share and sixteen analysts estimate revenues of $4.51 billion for the year.
