Costco Wholesale Q2 Profit Rises - Quick Facts

Costco Wholesale Corp. (COST) announced that its second-quarter net income attributable to the company was $299 million or $0.67 per share, compared to $239 million or $0.55 per share in the year ago quarter. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.72 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Total revenues increased to $18.74 billion, from $16.84 billion in the second quarter of fiscal 2009. Seventeen analysts had consensus revenue estimate of $18.53 billion for the quarter.

Net sales for the month of February were $5.61 billion, an increase of eleven percent from $5.06 billion in the same four-week period of the prior fiscal year. Total comparable sales for the month of February increased 9%.

Total comparable sales for the second quarter increased 9% and total comparable sales for the second-quarter, excluding the positive impacts from gasoline inflation and the strengthening of foreign currencies, rose 3%.
