At least seven civilians were killed and 13 injured in a car bomb attack in the western Iraqi province of Anbar, police told media Monday.
The suicide-bomber triggered the blast after driving his explosives-laden vehicle into the midst of political party workers in Falluja, 50 kilometers (32 miles) west of the capital Baghdad.
The blast occurred as counting of votes continued in the March 7 Iraqi Parliamentary elections, the second to be held in the violence-torn country since the ouster of executed President Saddam Hussein in 2003.
Anbar which was the center of extremist insurgency in the wake of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq has recently witnessed an improvement in the security situation with many local Sunni tribesmen and former insurgents taking on the militants.
Although the general elections were an unqualified success with voters turning up in large numbers despite the threat of violence from militants, 38 people died as a result of violence on the polling day.
Monday's bomb attack was the first significant strike by insurgents after the general elections.
