Reserve Bank of Australia's governor Glenn Stevens said on Wednesday that he does not believe the global financial crisis was a judgment of God - rather the result of human "greed and fear".
He told the Wesley Mission's Easter Breakfast, "I think if you are a Christian, God has given you certain capabilities to do a job." He added, "The bible teaches that you should do that as if you were doing it for him, because you are and that is my attitude."
He said, "There is nothing particularly remarkable about me at all and when I am not in the job anymore I will be disappearing, I can assure you".
