Sun Pharmaceutical Industries said that it was granted an approval by US FDA for its Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) to market a generic version of Schering Plough's Clarinex tablets of 5 mg strength.
These tablets contain Desloratadine 5 mg and are therapeutically equivalent to Schering Plough's Clarinex tablets. These are indicated in the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis, perennial allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria. These tablets have annual sales of $212 million in US.
