Slovak Retail Sales Decline For Second Month

Slovak retail sales dropped for the second month in a row, after remaining flat in February, data from the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic showed Tuesday.

Retail sales excluding motor vehicles fell 0.3 percent year-on-year in April, following a 3.4 percent decline in March. There has been no increase in sales since June 2010, when they grew 1 percent.

Month-on-month, retail sales edged up 0.1 percent. During the first four months of the year, retail sales dipped 1 percent from the same period last year.

The statistical office also reported that sales and repair of automobiles rose 11.4 percent annually and 3.3 percent from the previous month. The wholesale turnover dropped 1.8 percent annually and 0.1 percent monthly.
