Clean Energy Fuels Corp. (CLNE) Friday reported completing 68 fueling stations located over 16 states in 2011, a hike of 50 percent from the previous year. The company's president and CEO Andrew Littlefair added that total investment commitments received in second-half 2011 amounted to $450 million.
The completed projects include stations serving transit, refuse, airport/taxi/shuttle operations and also those supporting regional trucking and small fleets. Additionally, five LNG truck fueling stations were constructed along "America's Natural Gas Highway". "We are pleased to be leading the way for key segments of our nation's transportation system to convert to the use of natural gas fuel, saving money and helping the environment and our nation's energy security through growing independence from imported oil," Littlefair said.
