NSL To Expand Renewable Energy Portfolio

NSL Renewable Power, a part of the diversified Hyderabad-based NSL Group, is planning to increase its portfolio of renewable energy projects to 700 MW, spanning wind energy, bio-mass and hydel power generation over the next 24 months, reports said.

The company has 162 MW of installed capacity in renewable energy, comprising 150 MW of wind and two bio-mass plants (6 MW each). It is constructing two medium-scale hydro power projects of 10 MW and 44 MW and two small-scale hydel plants of 5 MW and 6 MW in Himachal Pradesh.

While the solar vertical is implementing a 20-MW solar plant, the wind energy arm of the company is in the process of deploying several plants in various States of the country. NSL Group is the promoter of Regen Powertech, a wind turbine manufacturer.

NSL Group Chairman Mandava Prabhakar Rao said that the company had won the 'Best Operating Wind Farm' award from Indian Wind Power Association for the third time recently. The award was presented during the 3rd International Wind Conference and Exhibition at Coimbatore.

The 28-MW Jagalur wind farm in Karnataka won this award during 2006-07 and 2009-10 also.
