Latvia's consumer price inflation weakened to the lowest level in sixteen months in April, data released by Central Statistical Bureau showed Thursday.
Annual inflation slowed to 2.8 percent in April from 3.3 percent in March. The latest figure was the lowest since December 2010, when consumer prices increased 2.5 percent.
Food prices advanced 2.1 percent annually, while clothing and footwear prices decreased 0.7 percent during the month. There was a 7.4 percent year-on-year gain in housing costs and utility prices, and a 4.7 percent rise in transportation costs in April.
On a monthly basis, consumer pries edged up 0.6 percent in April, unchanged from the growth rate recorded in the previous month.
