Following the release of the U.S. housing starts report for April at 8:30 am ET, the greenback held steady against its major rivals. As of 8:31 am ET, the US currency was trading at 1.2741 against the euro, 0.9430 against the Swiss franc, 1.5918 against the pound and 80.55 against the yen.
