Poland's current account deficit decreased significantly from the previous month in March, data released by the National Bank of Poland showed Wednesday.
The current account deficit fell to EUR228 million in March from EUR1.516 billion in February. In March 2011, the balance was a deficit of EUR1.107 billion.
The deficit in the goods trade account decreased to EUR399 million in March from EUR830 million in the previous month, while the surplus in the services account rose to EUR396 million from EUR285 million.
The income account showed a deficit of EUR1.196 billion in March, slightly wider than the EUR1.127 billion deficit recorded in February. The surplus in the current transfers account increased markedly to EUR971 million in March from EUR156 million in the previous month, data showed.
