South Africa's wholesale sales increased at a significantly slower rate in March, data released by Statistics South Africa showed Thursday.
Wholesale sales increased 5.3 percent on an annual basis in March, markedly slower than the 14 percent growth seen in February. In January, sales advanced 10.8 percent year-on-year.
On a monthly basis, wholesale sales decreased a seasonally adjusted 5 percent in March. In the January-March period, sales rose 4.4 percent compared to the three months ended December.
During the three-month period, wholesale sales increased 9.8 percent from the corresponding period a year earlier, the agency said.
