Italy's industrial orders grew at a faster than expected pace in March, largely underpinned by robust non-domestic demand, data from the statistical office Istat showed Friday.
Industrial orders rose 3.5 percent in March from a month ago. The increase exceeded the expected 1 percent growth and recovered from February's revised 2.6 percent decline. However, orders were down 14.3 percent annually.
Domestic market orders grew 2.6 percent on a monthly comparison and non-domestic demand advanced 5.1 percent.
At the same time, industrial turnover remained flat month-on-month in March, after expanding 2.3 percent in February. Turnover declined 3.1 percent from the corresponding period of last year.
