Dr Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. announced that it had launched over-the-counter or OTC Lansoprazole delayed-release capsules in the US market on May 18, following its ANDA approved by the US FDA.
The company said it would market the product under store brand labels in the US market.
The product is the bio-equivalent version of Novartis Consumer Health's Prevacid24 HR capsule which received Rx-to-OTC switch approval with 3 year exclusivity from the FDA on March 18, 2009. The Pevacid24 HT capsule market had brand sales of around $115 million for the twelve months ended March 2012, as per SymphonyIRI InfoScan Reviews.
Lansoprazole capsules are available in 15 mg strength in 14, 28 and 42 count pack size.
At the BSE, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories shares are currently trading at Rs.1,662.00, up 0.09 percent from the previous close.
