Two mathematical puzzles that have baffled scientists for more than 300 years have been solved by a 16-year-old Indian-origin student from Germany, according to reports.
One of the riddles in question reportedly relates to movement of projectiles through air, posed by Sir Isaac Newton in the 17th century, and the second one deals with collision of a body with a wall, that was posed in the 19th century.
The two puzzles are from the field of fundamental particle dynamics, and the school boy Shouryya Ray, who has cracked the centuries-old maths problems, has been hailed a genius by the German media.
Ray moved to Dresden, Germany from Kolkata, India, four years ago after his father Subhashis Ray, an engineer, got a job as a research assistant at the Technical University of Freiburg, reports say.
