Consumer Reports, known for rating cars and appliances, will begin to rate primary care doctors in Massachusetts in their new issue released Thursday. The Consumers Reports Health Ratings Center will provide "up-to-date comparisons" of tests and treatments, drugs, devices, providers, insurance plans and hospitals.
The rating survey was conducted in conjunction with the Massachusetts Health Quality Partners and collected data from 329 adult practices and 158 pediatric practices in the state.
"Massachusetts Health Quality Partners is on the cutting edge of providing reliable, meaningful and fair information about primary care physicians to consumers," said John Santa, M.D., M.P.H., director of the Consumer Reports Health Ratings Center.
"We are hopeful that Massachusetts residents will use these independent findings to help them select physician practices that are the best match for their priorities and needs."
