IP Group plc (IPO.L) said it has completed a tranched investment of up to 371 thousand pounds into Marblar Ltd.
Marblar is a a new platform that aims to move inert intellectual property forward by "gamifying" technology transfer. It has developed an online network for inventors, from individuals to universities and corporates, to interact directly with the scientific research community to come up with novel ways to exploit scientific discoveries.
Marblar plans to launch commercially over the summer with a number of competitions open to its network members to participate in. It is currently in discussions with individuals, PLCs, universities, not-for-profit organisations, research councils and even a Formula 1 team to have their scientific discoveries placed on the network.
