Over 40 workers fell sick after they inhaled toxic gas leaked from a polysilicon factory in South Korea on Thursday.
A total of 42 affected employees of the Hankook Silicon Co. in Yeosu, a port city 455 kilometers south of capital Seoul, were taken to nearby hospitals with most of them experiencing bouts of nausea, the Yonhap news agency reported quoting fireforce officials.
The company had been conducting test operations after it built an extension in the area when a crack in the gas pipeline led to the gas leak, the report said.
Hankook Silicon, established in 2008, is a producer of polysilicon, an essential raw material for solar cells. The company has launched an investigation into the gas leak.
